Seminary Appeal

Support our seminarians as they discern a vocation to Priesthood.

“Jesus went up on a mountain and called those He wanted, and they came to Him.” (Mk 3:13)

Before becoming your Bishop I was on the staff at Holy Cross Seminary in Auckland. I was always amazed by the diversity of the men whom the Lord called to the Priesthood, how he placed his call on their hearts and how they responded to that call.

Jesus continues to call those whom he wants, and they come to him. Jesus calls men like our three Seminarians to be your Priests.

So, do you want the priests Jesus calls for you? If you do, are you willing to support the costs of their formation? That’s what this appeal is about. Because New Zealand is a small country the costs of maintaining the infrastructure of staff and buildings for the formation for our Priests is huge. The New Zealand Bishops are committed to the formation of our future Priests here amongst you, the people they will serve. But to do this we need your help.

Please support Jesus’ desire for priests in our land by praying for our Seminarians and by supporting the Seminary Appeal.

Can I also take this opportunity to thank you for the $47,528 that was given in 2018 to support the formation of our three Seminarians, Fr. Matthew Gibson, Isaac Fransen and Adam Kirkeby.

Yours sincerely in Christ the Good Shepherd,
