Donations for financial assistance to Fr Ritche’s family

Fr Ritche Maguinda arrived in our Diocese from the Philippines in July 2024. He is on loan from the Divine Word Missionaries for at least 3 years. He served as assistant priest for the Te Awamutu, Ōtorohonga and Te Kūiti parishes for a year before moving to serve as assistant priest in Gisborne.

On November 10, 2025 he learnt that his family home has been destroyed by Typhoon Fung-wong (Uwan) and his family now have no roof over their head. The house was built of very light materials and was directly impacted by the typhoon. Father Ritche was due to go home next week for his annual holiday, and also to commemorate his grandmother‘s first anniversary of death - and now he will also be helping them rebuild their lives. The Gisborne parish are accepting donations for Fr Ritche to take home with him, so he can provide some financial relief for his family. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
